For most of my stay this morning, the Espresso Royale Cafe downtown on Broad Street bustled, surrounding me with the chaotic lullaby of conversations immediate enough for company, but muffled and jumbled enough to leave me free to read and muse. A moment came, however, when the tables mid-room stood empty, and I captured that moment with my Nikon.

I had this all to myself this morning. Sanctuary.

It's time for pre-semester job interviews at UGA Law. On my walk this humid summer morning, I came upon this inviting hillock of refreshment, arranged perhaps by a law firm hoping to lure the best and brightest.

A plume-tailed trash collector peeks out to find the coast no longer is clear. Get ready for "exit, stage right."
